Week "3" - The door


Apologies for the lack of updates over the past month - I have been busy with other projects for other modules. However,  upon researching and playing the occasional VR game throughout this time I have decided I am going to be producing a door which locks and requires a key to open. Although more complex than a regular push-pull door I believe it will help me to understand the mechanics better and have a deeper understanding of unreal engine which will of course aid me in the future projects I plan on completing.

In my last update I stated that I was watching some tutorials on how to create geometry using plugins. I recently discovered that I was over complicating everything and no plugins are needed in order to make simple things such as rooms and windows. I have also learnt some shortcuts such as:

SHIFT+ALT+LEFT CLICK = duplicate whatever actor is selected

pressing "END" snaps the actor to the baseplate.

"W E R" keys can be used to quickly swap between the move, resize and rotate tools


I have begun the development of the door.  Starting with creating the key...
